ELECTORAL ACTIVITIES IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL: NTA CHANNEL 5 ASSURES INEC, FCT OF ITS PLATFORM FOR EXTENSIVE GRASSROOTS SENSITIZATION.

The General Manager NTA Channel 5, Mrs. Fakeye Olukemi, has assured the management of INEC, FCT of NTA Channel 5’s platform for sustained coverage of the Commission’s activities in the FCT for enlightened participation of Nigerians.

Mrs. Fakeye Olukemi made this commitment when she and the management team of NTA Channel 5 paid a courtesy visit to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC FCT, Malam Aminu Kasimu Idris, on Friday, 19th September, 2025 at the Commission’s Head Office.

The GM at the visit highlighted that NTA Channel 5 as a window to the larger NTA network with extensive coverage, is well positioned as a gateway information channel for the propagation of news in Abuja and its environs to the outside world.

She added that the Station’s multiple local languages contents for grassroots sensitization, its expertise and manpower, including its platform are critical for the comprehensive and robust media coverage of INEC’s electoral activities in the build up for Area Council Elections in the FCT.

The General Manager assured the REC of NTA Channel 5’s commitment to sustain visitations to him and other key officials of the Commission for interviews in the Station’s special programs to enhance voter education and awareness. She expressed enthusiasm for a mutually beneficial partnership to amplify INEC’s messages to the electorate.

In his response, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC FCT, while appreciating the GM and her team for the visit, highly commended INEC FCT longstanding and cordial working relationship with NTA Channel 5. He expressed commitment to sustain collaboration with the Station to give media visibility to the Commission’s electoral activities and enhance engagement with voters in the FCT, especially with the conduct of two major electoral activities in the FCT- CVR exercise and the Area Council Elections.

The REC also highlighted the critical roles of the media in the democratic journey of the nation, noting that the Commission has historically benefited from the good media coverage of its activities.

The highlights of the visit were exchange of gifts and group photographs.
